Always try to pay attention to the big things going on in your friends’ lives. We’re not talking birthdays or anniversaries here. We’re talking up for a job promotion, a big presentation, things that you wouldn’t normally expect a much needed pick-me-up.
Pick a different friend every week and make it a point to do something nice for them. Whether this is a cup of coffee or a card, picking one friend a week makes the idea of keeping up with friendships so much easier.
Ask “how are you really doing.” Give them the space and the time to tell you what’s happening beneath the surface. Bonus tip: Listening can be one of the best gifts you can give someone.
Open up to your friends. It goes both ways! In order to maintain that deep, vulnerable friendship, you have to intentionally remove the walls on a regular basis. Bonus tip: Where you have your conversation matters as much as what conversations you have.
