Have you been playing with the idea of possibly starting an online community? It can seem super overwhelming at first. In this episode, I have my good friend Elise Hodge on to share with us how to create and foster and online community.
Fix your eyes on God. Knowing who you are and whose you are will help build the foundation you need to really lead a community you love and cherish.
Be yourself. Don’t try to be someone else. People gravitate towards your truth. What you do might not attract everyone, but it will attract the right people. Learning the power of attracting and repelling will help you to serve the people who you actually want in your community.
Serve the people you already have really well. Don’t stress about trying to get more people. Give your best to the people you already have with you.
One of the best ways to build a community, or even just a friendship is to share your story. What do you have in your journey that others may be going through. For me, I’m open about my experience with body image issues and the fact that I have a weird relationship with money. I talk about how I grew up in church and met my now husband in youth group when we were just 14. The power of your story is what will bring everyone together. I’ve heard it said before that the two most important words in the English language are “me too.” Me too says “you’re not alone. I’m with you.” That’s what community is about. That’s how you build a community online. Share, serve, repeat.

With building an online community, the temptation to see others as competition can show up. Here’s how I handle this!
