How to Stay Productive when Working From Home

⁣Have you caught yourself Pineresting “How to stay productive when working from home?” If so you’re in the right place!

Raise your hand if you wish working from home looked a little more like this!

It looks a lot more like dealing with dogs barking, trying not to sneak in an episode of Schitt’s Creek during client calls, and somehow being transported into the kitchen 8 times a day and going back and forth between the fridge and pantry hoping something new will pop up.

Over a year ago learning to work from home was a HARD adjustment for me and there were some things I WISH I would have known ahead of time to set me up for success.

Here are my TOP TIPS for staying PRODUCTIVE when working from home:

CREATE A MORNING ROUTINE – Getting your body in a rhythm and flow for the day is so important!

TAKE BREAKS – While it may seem like a waste of time, allowing your brain to have a break actually helps you stay more focused when you get back into it.

CREATE A TO-DO LIST – I am a HUGE fan of lists, especially when it comes to work. Write out the top 3 things you need to do that day and then do them in order of the things that have a clear time period.

Example: You may already know that writing your newsletter for the week takes you and hour, but you also have updating your website on your list. Updating your website is something that could take 20 minutes or 10 hours depending on how much you’re wanting to do.

Do the things that have a definite time frame around them first so they don’t get lost behind the others.

KEEP YOUR PHONE + LAPTOP ON AIRPLANE MODE – you’d be surprised to see just how much more you can get done when you’re not being pulled away every 2 seconds!

GIVE YOURSELF GRACE – finding a new routine that works takes time and can often change with the different projects you have going on. Allow yourself the freedom to try new things.
