There’s a freedom in knowing that you get to be the same person no matter what room you walk into – that you no longer have to shape-shift depending on who you’re around. That you have the permission to live fierce, free, and full of fire just as you are. In today’s episode of The Fearless Chase Podcast, I’m sitting down with one the greatest writers of our time, Jen Hatmaker, to talk about her journey through getting to be gloriously herself and what it took to get there.

Between self-help books and leaders we look up to telling us we’re either too much or not enough, it can be hard to trust that we are enough. In our conversation, Jen unpacks how despite what messaging has been thrown our way, we are exactly enough and there is room for us at the table just as we are.

It can be easy to look at someone with such admirable titles next to their name and assume they’ve had it easy or possibly even an overnight success. Jen sets the record straight by sharing her own journey through learning to overcome comparison, jealousy, and the opinions of others.

Getting to be fierce, free, and full of fire starts with learning to understand who you are and how you flourish, but it doesn’t end there. We were created for community. We were made to do life with one another by design, yet as we navigate through different stages of life it can be challenging to find friendships that can support you in the right ways. Jen shares her advice on how to create genuine, meaningful, life-giving friendships.

Jen has provided space for me to finally feel like I have a place in this world. That I am allowed to be over the top and funny and sarcastic and opinionated and love people and love Jesus all in the same space. That I can openly love others from all backgrounds – even the ones I’m still learning to understand and the ones I never will. She is one of the most brilliant and hilarious humans and writers I have ever come across and I love every bit of it. They say you are who you surround yourself with and while she didn’t know it, she has surrounded me in every moment I needed over the past three years.
