Body positivity- it’s a bit of a buzzword lately and it’s something we want to take a hot minute to discuss. In this episode I have my friend and body positivity advocate Megan Vaughn on to talk about the top things you need to hear when it comes to how we see and treat ourselves.
After losing 130 pounds, Megan learned that there’s a lot more than just the physical aspect of things when it comes to weight loss. She shares about how important it is to switch your mindset from “let’s lose weight,” to “let’s be healthy and seek balance.”
Megan challenges you to say something nice about yourself everyday. As cheesy as it sounds, the more you can genuinely focus on things that you love about yourself, the more you start to second handedly do it on your own.
When it comes to body positivity it’s all about how you’re treating yourself. Are you being kind to yourself? Are you talking to yourself the way you would talk to a friend? Would you be embarrassed if others knew what you said about yourself in your head?
Body positivity is about learning to love yourself as is. It’s about treating yourself with grace and kindness and seeing the true beauty that’s there both inside and out.
The next time you’re tempted to compare yourself to either someone in person or even a stranger on the internet, catch yourself and remember that you are beautiful and whole just the way you are. If you think you’re alone in getting stuck in the comparison game, I’m here to remind you you’re not. In fact, I wrote an entire post about it here.
Remember, people share what they want others to see. You may think you’re the only one on the hot mess express, but truthfully we’re all on it. Everyone is struggle bussin’ their way through life and learning as they go.
You are beautiful. You are strong. You are bold. You are courageous. Want to know how I know that? Because you are you and there’s not a single other person who gets to play that role. Don’t waste your life trying to live someone else’s. Make yours the very best it can possibly be.
