What's Keeping You From Your Success

Have you been wracking your brain to determine what’s keeping you from your success?

What if you saw every Monday like you did New Year’s Day? Or what if you went one step forward and looked at every day as a new opportunity. It’s a brand new start. It’s a fresh beginning to leave behind the not so great, take what you’ve learned and power through to achieving your goals. This is my favorite journal to help me stay accountable to not throwing away the week after one misstep. What’s Keeping You from Your Success?

I believe everything in life takes intention and hard work. One of the most important aspects to both of these, is perspective.

The skill to be able to change your perspective is incredible. I believe it’s within all of us. It may appear to seem impossible for some, but I promise you it’s not. If you can change your view point on things, you can change your results.

You have to see yourself achieving your goals before you can ever get there. We let a lot of things get in the way of  our achievement but the biggest one for most people is fear.

That fear holds you back from ever even being able to picture yourself there.

Fear and shame tell you you’re not good enough, you’re not capable, you’re not worthy. I believe that the first step to overcoming that fear is by calling it for what it is: a fear. It’s not reality. It’s the worry of what reality could be. Your goals and dreams are hope for what life can be. Both are yet to come to pass.

While you stand there trying to decide if you should make a move one way or the other, hope and fear are each fighting for your attention. For most of us, fear ends up winning and in turn paralyzes us from ever moving at all.

The fear of failure is almost the same as the fear of success.

Success always requires failure. Without it, you just hit some luck. You aren’t able to fully live into that success because you can’t appreciate how you got there. Sometimes we try to fail as a reason to not achieve our goals and validate our fears. This is called self-sabotage. Know someone like that?

Sometimes we’re too scared to fail that we miss out on our greatest opportunities. What you don’t realize in the moment of awe, is that every person you look up to has failed. Without failure there is no change. Without failure there is no trying.

If you understand where you’re at and have an idea of where you want to be, but aren’t sure where to start, start with the first step you think can get you there. If it turns out that it was a detour, well that’s great you took the scenic route.

It’s not about getting there as fast as you can. Have you ever had a microwaved pot roast? Dear Lord I hope not because that sounds awful. Nothing amazing happens by trying to get there as fast and easy as possible.

Change requires change. If you want a change your life you need to make a change in your life. Reread that. If you’re still doubting yourself read it again. What do you need to do in order to be where you want to be?

You don’t need to know all the steps to getting there, in fact you won’t ever know because even when you think you know, you’ll end up on this wonderful detour that takes you on a path of encounters that you would have never had the chance of had you not.

All my love,

Mads
